Suryakumar Yadav is at the peak of his career right now as the right-handed batsman who is ranked second on the ICC T20I batters list performed brilliantly in the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa that India won by 2-1. The right-hand middle-order batter amassed two consecutive fifties in the first and second matches.
His extraordinary performances helped him get the Player of the Series award. With 801 runs from only 23 matches, he is the leading run-getter in T20Is this year. After scoring tons of runs in the first two matches, the 32-year-old had made just eight runs off six balls in the final T20I. In the post-match presentation, skipper Rohit Sharma trolled Surya for his poor batting in the final game.
"Speaking about the concerns, to start with Surya's form, there's a bit of concern, and then you know, we have to look at that (starts laughing)," Rohit said. Former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik, who was doing the presenters' duty, then joined in with a laugh, saying "I thought it would be the least of your concerns!"
Eventually, Rohit then discussed India's death bowling problems. "No, honestly speaking, we have to look at our bowling. What more options could we find in the powerplay, in the middle-overs, and in the death as well," Rohit said.
"The last two series were very challenging. We were playing against the top-2 sides. We had to come up against tough challenges. We will go back and see what better we can do. It is going to be challenging, but we need to find an answer to those. I would still say, we are working towards that. Guys need clarity on what we want to achieve, and it is my job to convey that. It's a work in progress, and we want to continue to keep doing that," Rohit further added.
