India vs England 3rd Test match is underway and Ishant Sharma has stepped on to the field to play his 100th International Test match. He becomes only the second fast bowler after Kapil Dev to attain this feat. Earlier, three bowlers, namely Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev and Harbhajan Singh had played in more than 100 matches. On Wednesday, in a special moment for Ishant, he was presented the 100th Test match cap and a memento by President Ramnath Kovind and Home Minister Amit Shah.

He was presented the cap by the HM and the President just before the start of the third Test. Here is the video of that:

Ishant made his debut in 2008 against Australia and he was noticed for troubling Ricky Ponting by his in swing. He has been a great friend to Virat Kohli. Kohli said, “When he first got selected for India, he was fast asleep in the afternoon, and I had to kick him off the bed and say you have been selected. And he wouldn't believe me. That's how far we go back. I couldn't be happier for him. Playing 100 Test matches as a fast bowler is no mean feat.”

“People will call me senior when I take wickets at a crucial time. That is why I feel every match I play is crucial for me. That is my mindset.” Ishant Sharma was quoted saying.

Ishant has been consistent with his line and length over the years and that’s why he stands at 303* Test wickets overall. Ishant Sharma is only 32 years old and to sustain as a fast bowler for long takes immense amount of hard-work. To complete 100 matches in Test cricket is a feat rarely achieved. Congratulations Ishant Sharma!
