Following some promising partnerships by the Indian top and middle order, the Indian tail succumbed to a humiliating fall against Nathan Lyon’s magnificent bowling. Besides wrecking the Indian ship towards the end, the veteran Aussie off-spinner broke two of the three dynamic partnerships that India stitched to set a 323-run target.

Nathan began his hunt on the third day of the Adelaide Test with Indian skipper Virat Kohli being his first prey. Next morning, he turned more lethal as ever and scalped 5 more wickets to restrict India for 307 much before to the tea break.

After removing Kohli on Saturday, Lyon completed his 6-wicket haul following the dismissals of Cheteshwar Pujara (71), Ajinky Rahane (70), Rohit Sharma (1), Rishabh Pant (28) and Mohammed Shami (0).

Lyon has also become the only bowler in the world to have dismissed the following the following Indian batsmen the most number of times in Test cricket.

India lost five wickets for 25 runs after lunch to get bowled out for 307 in their second innings riding on half-centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara (71) and Ajinkya Rahane (70). India only added 47 runs for their last five wickets after the resumption of play post lunch.

Besides Lyon, Starc finished with 3 wickets. Australia need to chase 323 for victory. They have four and a half sessions to do it. No team has ever chased that many in a Test in Adelaide.
