The senior Indian speedster Mohammed Shami has started practicing again. He shared a video on his Instagram handle on Saturday in which he was spotted bowling in the nets at his farmhouse.
Shami was expected to play the T20 series against Australia but tested positive for Covid 19 and missed the entire series. He missed the ongoing T20 series against South Africa also since he had not recuperated from the virus. The 32-year-old pacer has been added to the traveling reserves in the Indian team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
The right-arm seamer from Bengal was last seen in action at Old Trafford on July 17. Before leaving for Australia, there are chances that he will be playing in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. Shami made his T20 debut way back on March 21, 2014, against Pakistan at Mirpur. He has donned the Blue jersey in a total of 17 matches in the shortest format. Since Bumrah is injured, he might be included in the 15-member main squad.
The Indian team is set to face South Africa in the second T20I on Sunday which will take place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. India, who are 1-0 up against South Africa in the three-match T20 International series, have an opportunity to seal the series by beating the visitors in the second T20I, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.
