Amid Pakistan’s poor ODI outing against England, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed toiled hard to notch up his 3rd career ton when both the sides locked horns At Trent Bridge on Sunday. Unfortunately, he fell 3 runs short as English stumper Jos Buttler’s presence of mind and lightning reflexes turned the tables.

The incident happened in the 32nd over when Sarfraz tried to guide Moeen Ali’s delivery towards the third man. Acting like MS Dhoni, Buttler stopped the ball by lifting his right leg sideways.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan captain rushed to take a single and by the time he realised that Buttler had grabbed the ball, it was too late. The England wicketkeeper was quick enough to pick up the ball and take the bails off in a flash.

Besides this act, Buttler also affected the dismissal of Babar Azam. Sarfraz and Babar put on 146 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership after Chris Woakes reduced the visitors to 6 for 3 in 3 overs.

Sarfraz’s 97-run innings, that included 7 fours & 2 sixes, came to an end that ended Pakistan’s chances to return. In Pursuit of a mammoth 351-run target, the guests were bundled out for 297 in the 47th over.
