The cricket fans in Ranchi gathered at the JSCA international stadium on Friday to witness their local hero, MS Dhoni, play probably for the last time at this venue. Though they were a bit disappointed in the initial hours of the game, but soon they erupted in joy after watching their hero’s on-field masterpiece against the Australians.

After the visitors lost their captain in the 31st over, Glenn Maxwell came to bat at No 3 and once again began hammering the Indian bowlers. He was inching towards his fifty but Ravindra Jadeja’s athletic approach and Dhoni’s presence of mind sent him packing in the 42nd over.

Kuldeep bowled a short ball which Marsh slapped towards Jadeja and rushed to steal a quick single. That was the moment when the Australians committed a big mistake as Jadeja picked the ball and threw it to Dhoni who just deflected it off his gloves into the stumps.

The former captain didn’t celebrate but the entire crowd began chanting ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ in unison.

Earlier this morning, captain Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl first. Aaron Finch, who was going through a rough patch, made a terrific comeback as he slammed 93 runs to stitch a 193-run stand with Usman Khawaja for the opening wicket.

Finch missed out on his ton by just 7 runs while Khawaja brought up his maiden ODI century. Australia finish on 5-313 and India need 314 to win
