After some reckless shot selection and dismal show by the top-order Indian batsmen, Cheteshwar Pujara took on the Aussie bowling attack as he scored a brilliant hundred to take the innings beyond the 200-run mark which helped his team to put 250 runs on the scoreboard at a loss of 9 wickets, despite a terrible top-order collapse.

However, a stunning direct-hit by Pat Cummins ended Pujara’s innings as India’s Test specialist batsmen scored 123 from 246 balls.

Thanks to Cheteshwar Puajar whose gritty century kept the momentum alive and gave helped India to achieve a respectable total. At stumps, Mohammed Shami remained unbeaten on 6 and will be joined by Jasprit Bumrah on Friday morning.

It was in the 58th over; Pujara got his 20th Test fifty, seventh against Australia and second on the Australian soil. At tea, India had lost six wickets, with Pujara and Ashwin holding the fort for their squad.

Following India’s terrible start, it was expected that the visitors won’t last at the crease for the entire day. But Cheteshwar Pujara knock saved India from embarrassment on a flat Adelaide Oval pitch.
