Mumbai Indians bowlers cane all guns blazing on a slow Chepauk wicket as Dhoni-less Chennai Super Kings batting order fell like a pack of cards. Raina-led CSK missed their regular skipper Dhoni’s presence, taking advantage of which Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 46-runs in their return fixture at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, on Friday.

Chasing the target, Chennai had the worst start as they lost quick wickets. In the 17th over, Krunal Pandya took a stunner to dismiss Chahar, who was looking to hit Bumrah over the deep mid-wicket.

Krunal kept following the ball and dived forward to complete a stunning catch after which Bumrah didn’t miss to applaud Krunal’s effort.

It was the Mumbai bowlers, who came all guns blazing on a slow wicket, to wrap up the home side, who were chasing a modest 156-run target, on a paltry 109 runs.

Lasith Malinga starred for the visitors with figures of 4/37, while Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya bagged couple of wickets each.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma said Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s absence on Friday due to fever came as a "massive boost" for his squad. Rohit said it was a blessing in disguise for him to lose the toss as they too would wanted to chase on what eventually turned out to be another slow Chepauk surface.
