Right ahead of the Test series against India, all-rounder Ben Stokes has grabbed the limelight with his clinical performance with his performance in the Vitality Blast on Friday. The 27-year-old cricketer guided Durham Jets to a magnificent seven-wicket victory over Moeen Ali led Worcestershire Rapids at Chester-le-Street.
Durham won the toss and opted to bowl first. Stokes exhibited a terrific performance, claiming 4 wickets in his quota of 4 overs and leaked just 16 runs out of it. While Worcestershire were dismissed for 121, Stokes remained the highest wicket-taker in the first innings.
Stokes, in his spell, removed Martin Guptill (7), Ben Cox (17), Ross Whiteley (1) and Dillon Pennington (0).
Later, he scored 43 runs off 24 deliveries, helping his team to clinch a 7-wicket victory with 32 balls to spare.
Durham have already won their last three games and are well in contention to reach the knockout phase of the competition. On the other hand, the Rapids suffered a second successive defeat.
