Young sensation Mayank Agarwal converted his first Test century into a double hundred to power India to 502/7 on Day 2 of first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. India star opener Rohit Sharma (176) and Mayank Agarwal (215) added 317 runs for record first wicket. Proteas will begin Day 3 at 39/3, trail India by 463 runs.

Agarwal ended India's decade long wait as he became the first Indian opener since Virender Sehwag to score a double hundred.

India spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled brilliantly  to pick three wickets before the end of Day 2. All-rounder Jadeja  is just one wicket short of 2OO Test wickets.

Veteran spinner Ashwin, who was brought early into the attack by Kohli, didn't fail to impress his skipper by delivering in just his third over as he bowled a beautiful off-spin to dismiss Markram. Ashwin's magical spin delivery pierced through Markram's defence to dislodge the bails.

Earlier, it was all about the Indian openers carrying on from where they left on the opening day.

If it was the Rohit Sharma show in the morning session, the afternoon session belonged to his opening partner Mayank Agarwal.

Having played second fiddle till Rohit made hay, the youngster rose to the occasion after Rohit's dismissal to notch his first double hundred in Test cricket as the hapless Proteas bowlers went through the paces.
