It wasn't a memorable outing at all for the Salem Spartans captain Abhishek Tanwar. During the match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Salem Spartans, Tanwar became the holder of an unwanted record as he conceded 18 runs off one legal delivery to finish off the innings. While he had been the highest wicket-taker in the 2022 season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), it wasn't his day in this fixture against Super Gillies as he not only struggled with his line but even overstepped to experience a nightmarish experience on the cricket field. With the help of 18 runs coming off the last delivery, Chepauk Super Gillies managed to post 217/5 with 26 runs coming off the final over.

Here is how 18 runs were scored off one ball. While Tanwar bowled a superb delivery which uprooted the leg stump of the batter Sanjay Yadav, it proved to be a no ball which meant a run was awarded to the opposition. Next up, was another no-ball which was smashed for six by the left-handed batter Yadav. The bowled tried for a yorker once again but bowled a full toss which was heaved over the deep mid-wicket fence. 8 had been added to the total without a ball being bowled after which the pacer went for another perfect yorker but it was again a no-ball and the batsman hit it towards the long-on region to come back for 2 to make it 11 runs with the delivery still not counted.

Perhaps in a bid to try something different, Tanwar once again bowled a fuller length ball which was aimed at the batter's legs but it went down the leg side for a wide, making it 12 runs after which the speedster missed his length and Yadav needed no second invitation as he grabbed his chance to score a maximum over midwicket, to make it 18 runs off one ball.

The video of the drama that happened in this 'one legal delivery' has gone viral.

Chasing a daunting target, Salem Spartans couldn't deliver under pressure and only managed to post 165-9 in their 20 overs, implying a 52-run win for the Chepauk Super Gillies.
