Continuing his brilliant form in the shortest format of cricket, Australia’s T20I skipper Aaron Finch has played a record knock for Surrey in the Vitality Blast on Thursday.

While batting against Sussex, Finch smashed an unbeaten 131 which eventually turned out to be the highest score by a Surrey batsman in a Twenty20 match.

It might have been a completely different story for the World No. 1 T20I batsman had he not been dropped by Jofra Archer with a single to his name. But Finch made the most of that second chance and brutally punished the opponent bowlers.

Finch played 79 deliveries and remained unbeaten. Batting at a strike rate of 165.82, he smashed 7 sixes and 10 boundaries. Finch was not in a mood to give a second chance, with even Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, the world's top-ranked T20 bowler, unable to escape punishment as the Australian hit him for two fours and two sixes.

Together with Ollie Pope (23 not out), Finch shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 100 from 50 balls.

With the help of his superb batting, Surrey piled up 192 for three. In return, Surrey fell 52 runs short and were bowled out in the 18th over.
