'There's A lot I Can Say But...' Wahab Riaz Reacts After PCB Sack Him From Pakistan Team's Selection Committee

Wahab Riaz reacts to Pakistan Cricket Boards (PCB) action of removing him from the team's selection committee. Says 'I don’t want to be part of the blame games.'

Former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz was recently dismissed from his position in the team’s selection committee along with his fellow member of the chief selection committee Abdul Razzaq. This followed after Pakistan's group-stage exit from recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2024. In response to his removal, Wahab Riaz took to his official social media handle of X and expressed his thoughts on the situation, suggesting that he had much to say but chose not to play the blame games.

Wahab Riaz expressed in the post on X that he wants the people of Pakistan to know that he served the game with utmost sincerity and gave his hundred percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.

“My time serving as a member of the selection committee for PCB comes to an end, I just want my people to know that I have served the game I love with faith and sincerity and have given 100 percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” Wahab Riaz wrote in the statement he posted on X.

'Everyone's Vote Carried Equal Weight' Says Wahab Riaz After Facing Favouritsm Allegations

Earlier, Riaz faced claims that he was ineffective as a leader and showed favouritism toward certain players during his time on the selection committee. But in the statement, he further mentioned that everyone’s vote carried equal weightage and the selection panel made decisions as a team. 

“It has been an honour to serve as part of the selection panel. To make collaborative decisions as part of the seven man panel to select the national team was a privilege - everyone's vote carried equal weight, we made selection decisions as a team & shared the responsibility of that process equally. It was an honour to contribute my part to that,” he further added.

In his statement, Riaz also extended his best wishes to the Pakistan team, expressing that it was a privilege to assist Gary Kirsten and the other coaches. He added that he is hopeful for better days ahead for Pakistan cricket.

“Moreover, it was an honour to support Gary Kirsten & the coaching group as they set their vision for this team. I am confident that the team plans the coaches have put together will ensure this team continues to grow into a dominant force as we move forward and I wish them the best of luck on that journey. 

“I am thankful to the people who have prayed for me. I wish nothing but success for the future of the Pakistan cricket team,” he wrote in the statement.
