Virat Kohli achieved a major milestone during India's 3rd ODI against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra as he became the fastest cricketer to scale the 12,000 run milestone in One Day International Cricket.

Virat Kohli eclipsed 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar's record for being the fastest batsmen to scale the 12,000-run milestone in one day internationals. The prolific run scorer got over 12,000 runs in just his 251st ODI (242 innings). Sachin had taken 309 matches (300 innings) to get to the tectonic landmark.

Having aggregated 110 runs in the first 2 ODIs, in-form Virat Kohli got to the herculean milestone when reached 23 en-route yet another fifty in ODIs. Kohli brought up his 60th ODI half ton in his 251st ODI innings.

Second Highest Run Scorer And Ton Maker For India In ODIs

Kohli is the second highest run getter (12040) for India in one day internationals behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar (18426 ODI runs). He is also second behind Sachin (49) on the list of all time ton makers in ODIs with 43 tons.

If Kohli goes on to score a ton against the Aussies in the 3rd ODI, the 32-year-old batting lynchpin would equal Sachin’s record of most hundreds by an Indian (9) against Australia.
