Australia: Covid19 has been causing havoc in India! The rising cases of Corona Virus across Indian cities, and now small town as well, has been a major problem since mid-April 2021. The average cases in the past 10 days have been close to 4 lakh. Amid this chaos, UNICEF Australia has stepped up to help India in the Covid-19 relief. Australian cricket personalities, both men and women, have put out a video on Twitter seeking donations for the India Covid crisis.
Top cricketers like Allan Border, Brett Lee, Pat Cummins, Michael Hussey, Rachel Haynes, Steve Smith, Alyssa Healy, Josh Hazlewood, Meg Lanning, Mitchell Starc, and Marnus Labuschagne are part of this campaign. "There's not enough oxygen to go around," says Brett Lee in the video. The fast-bowler was present in India as a commentator for the IPL. Others like Pat Cummins, Michael Hussey was also part of the IPL in some ways.
Check out the video here:
Pat Cummis said, "India is recording four new Covid cases every second." Mitchell Starc is also seen in the video, he said, "In the time of crisis, we come together."
UNICEF Australia also thanked all of them in a tweet:
Australians were first to donate in the Covid-19 relief for India. Brett Lee had donated 1 Bitcoin to a website ‘www.cryptorelief.in’ “to help with the purchase of oxygen supplies for hospitals across India”.
1 Bitcoin’s current value is around Rs 41 lakhs. The cricketer turned commentator seems to have taken inspiration from his fellow countryman, Pat Cummins who donated 50,000 USD to the PM CARES fund for Covid-19 relief. Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Starc have also donated to UNICEF Australia's India COVID19 crises
