Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's World Cup that is slated to begin from March 2022. Team India play their first World Cup fixture against Pakistan on March 6th, 2022 at the Bay Oval, Tauranga.
The surprising non-selection has been of 21-year old Jemimah Rodrigues of Mumbai. The all-rounder was expected to make it to the squad, but didn't. The squad will also feature in the 5-match ODI series against New Zealand starting from 11th February, 2022.

Mithali Raj (Captain), Harmanpreet Kaur (vice-captain), Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicket-keeper), Sneh Rana, Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Singh Thakur, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Poonam Yadav.
Standby Players: Sabbhineni Meghana, Ekta Bisht, Simran Dil Bahadur.
It has to be noted that the opening match of the cricket World Cup will be played between hosts New Zealand and West Indies, after which there will be two important matches in which the arch-rival teams will face each other.
Australia will take on defending champions England in Hamilton on March 5 while India will face Pakistan in Tauranga on March 6.
The tournament will last for 31 days, in which a total of 31 matches will be played and eight teams will face each other for the coveted World Cup trophy. The tournament will be hosted by six cities Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington.
