New Delhi: The Indian team suffered a humiliating defeat against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 final as they lost the match by 10 wickets. Post India’s loss, a lot of questions were raised against the head coach Rahul Dravid. Former India legend Sunil Gavaskar spoke to Aaj Tak about the reasons surrounding the team's exit from the tournament.
"When you have Rahul Dravid, who is one of the greatest batters of all time, then you don't need a batting coach. When Rahul Dravid says something and Vikram Rathour says something else, batters will get confused. You have to understand this. If you don't want too many members in the support staff, don't send them with the team. Take only those who are necessary," said Gavaskar.
"In 1983 World Cup, we had one manager. Same in 1985. When the team won in 2011, there weren't many people as well. I'm surprised the number of support staff is higher than the team members. Players get confused on whom to listen to," he added.
Talking about the semi-final clash, Virat Kohli yet again starred with the bat and scored a brilliant half-century. Hardik Pandya too played a blinder as he made 63 runs in just 33 balls. Opener KL Rahul once again failed to deliver as he got out after scoring just 5 runs.
In reply, England openers Buttler and Hales starred with the bat and led England to a facile win. England will now lock horns against Pakistan in the final of the T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
England sealed the title by defeating Pakistan and won the T20 World Cup final on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
