S Sreesanth has not given up on cricket. He still has that hunger, drive and more importantly, that lethal outswing to get the outside edge of the bat.
At 35, Sreesanth sent out a strong signal by making a comeback to the cricket field. The right-arm fast bowler, still not clear of the life-ban imposed by BCCI for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal in IPL 2013, played a local tournament on Thursday.
Sreesanth took to Instagram to announce his return to cricket. He started off gingerly but slowly gathered his rhythm while bowling.
Known for his bolt upright seam positioning, Sreesanth delivered one of his trademark outswingers, opening the batsman up to get the outside edge. His next delivery was a toe-crushing yorker that uprooted the leg stump of the batsman.
Sreesanth has been out of action and fighting a legal battle with the BCCI since 2013. His last appearance for India was a Test match in England in 2011.
Time away from the game prompted the fast bowler to try out his hand in modelling; he even appeared in a Bollywood movie last year.
His latest Instagram posts, where he displayed his transformed physique spread rumours, of him permanently shifting to the glamour world biding goodbye to cricket but his appearance on the cricket field on Thursday came as a relief to his fans.
