Former Australia skipper Steve Smith, who returns to cricket with the Canadian Global T20 League, has pledged to donate his match fees to grassroots cricket programs.
Smith was named as the marquee player in the Canadian T20 league after Cricket Australia permitted him to play domestic cricket outside Australia.
The 29-year-old has decided to donate the match fees to the Grassroots cricket in both Australia and Canada.
Smith has begun preparation in Sydney to get himself match ready for the tournament which gets underway on June 28.
The Former World Cup winner was banned from cricket for 12-months following his involvement in the ball-tampering saga in Cape Town during Australia’s visit to South Africa.
