Sri Lanka dropped recently-turned former captain Angelo Mathews after a horrendous debacle at Asia Cup and re-assigned Dinesh Chandimal as the skipper of both the ODI and Test side for the England series.
Despite being in good form with the bat, Mathews only managed to make it to the 16-man Test squad for the three match Test series against England, starting on November 6. Since 2015 World cup, the all-rounder has amassed 1597 runs at an average of over 48 runs.
Though Sri Lanka has some really good talent in their side and the visitors are often seen vulnerable when they visit the subcontinent, especially when it comes to bat on turning tracks and face spin bowling, still it seems that the Lankan squad does not have what it takes to get better of England.
However, the hosts would be quite eager to prove themselves against one of the best sides of the world.
The Lankan lions will face England for a long 42-day series at home, starting with five ODIs, followed by a single T20I and three Test matches.
