In a first, Singapore registered their first ever victory over Zimbabwe (ICC full member nation) and just their fourth win in shortest format of the game (T20Is).
Singapore's Tim David and Manpreet Singh battled hard to put on board a decent total as both scored 41-runs, with Amjad Mahboob delivering a good spell to pick 2/20 from his four overs to seal a historic four-run win against Zimbabwe in the rain-affected third match of the Singapore T20I Tri-Series 2019.
Thanks to some major contribution from the top-order batsmen, Hosts Singapore were able to attain a decent total of 181/9 in a rain-affected game that was reduced to 18 overs a side at the Indian Association Ground.
After a quick start from Rangarajan (39 off 22) and Chandramohan (23 off 17), the batting duo of Tim David and Manpreet Singh ensured their squad marched on against the visitors bowling attack.
Ryan Burl was the pick of the Zimbabwe attack, picking up three for 24.
In reply, Zimbabwe's Regis Chakabva brutally smashed bowlers to score a remarkable 48 off 19 balls before getting dismissed. Thereafter, skipper Sean Williams and Tinotenda Mutombodzi built on Chakabva's good work to take Zimbabwe to 142/2 in the 14th over.
However, Williams dismissal for 66 resulted in a collapse as the required rate crept up, and Singapore's Sidhant Singh held his nerve to defend 10 off the final over and take his side to their first ever win over a Full Member in international cricket.
