Star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan achieved a unique feat in international cricket. In the ongoing first ODI between Bangladesh and Ireland, Shakib achieved the feat of making a double of 7000 runs and 300 wickets in ODIs, becoming only the third cricketer to boast of this distinction. Prior to Shakib, only two players have managed to enter this club in One Day Internationals- former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya and ex-Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi.

The 35-year-old achieved the feat in the 20th over of the Bangladesh innings in the ODI against Ireland. He took a single off the bowling of Curtis Campher to join the elite club as he completed his 7000th run. In the team's last ODI against England in February, Shakib had breached the 300-wicket mark in 50 overs cricket when he had got the wicket of Rehan Ahmed on his way to a four-wicket haul.

Shakib had joined an elite club on that occasion too, becoming just the third left-arm spinner after Jayasuriya and Daniel Vettori to complete 300 wickets in ODIs. One of the Bangla Tigers' greatest match winners ever to have played the game, Shakib is the team's highest wicket-taker in Tests and T20Is. In T20 cricket, the celebrated all-rounder is the fifth-highest wicket-taker. Only two cricketers to date can boast of having 6000 runs, 400 wickets and 50 matches in Shakib is one of them along with Dwayne Bravo.

After his international commitments, Shakib will join the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023. Shakib was purchased by the franchise for Rs 1.5 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. He has lifted two IPL titles both with the same franchise in 2012 and 2014 and the star all-rounder would hope that he can be a part of yet another championship winning side this year.
