Who Is Saurabh Netravalkar?- In a remarkable turn of events, the cricket world bore witness to what turned out to be the one of the greatest cricket matches in the history of the cricket World Cup as USA handed a humiliating defeat to Pakistan in a Group A match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 match on June 6 (Thursday). The match went to a Super Over where a performance by Mumbai-born Saurabh Netravalkar of USA left the Babar Azam-led Pakistan reeling in disbelief. Defending 18 runs in the Super Over after the tied game, left-arm pacer Netravalkar held on to his nerves and guided USA to a stunning victory. 


Demonstrating applaudable composure, Netravalkar delivered an excellent bowling performance in the Super Over, conceding just 13 runs, securing a historic win for USA. Earlier in the match, after choosing to bowl first, USA’s Netravalkar concluded with the bowling figures of  2-18 in 4 overs. Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed were his victims.

Mumbai-Based Cricketer Played Alongside KL Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat & More


Born in Mumbai on October 16, 1991, Saurabh Netravalkar has had an intriguing journey in cricket. He represented the Indian team in the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup 2010 but faced tough competition in India, which hindered his progress. Netravalkar moved to the United States of America (USA) in 2015 to pursue a Master's degree in Computer Science at New York’s Cornell University. 


After getting his degree, he landed a well-paying job with a prominent computer technology company- Oracle, in San Francisco. A former teammate of cricketers like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat and Sandeep Sharma, Netravalkar went after his cricketing dreams alongside his profession as a Senior Software Engineer at Oracle as he continued to play club cricket in San Francisco. Finally in 2019, Netravalkar marked his international debut for the USA.

His cricketing journey came full circle in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 as he played a pivotal role in the USA's historic win. Having represented India in the U19 World Cup in 2010, where they were defeated by Babar's Pakistan, Netravalkar experienced the bitter taste of defeat. However, 14 years later, as a key member of the USA team, he orchestrated a remarkable turnaround and seized sweet revenge by guiding his team to victory against Babar's Pakistan in a thrilling Super Over showdown.
