19-year-old Sam Curran has been drafted in the England Test squad for Headingley Test as cover for Ben Stokes, who is suffering from a tight hamstring.

The younger Curran had an impressive run in the domestic cricket, scalping 18 wickets in 4 games at an average of 19.55 and is also the highest wicket-taker for Surrey, including a match-winning haul of 10 for 101 against Yorkshire.

The left-arm pacer was included in the World XI squad to face Windies in an exhibition charity tie at the Lords but will travel back to join his national side in Leeds.

Stokes sustained a strain during the practice session on Wednesday and did not bowl after that. However, he will be assessed on Thursday and still remains in contention to start the second and final Test match against Pakistan which starts from Friday.
