It's time to get over the ODI World Cup 2023 heartbreak for all Indian fans as India's T20 World Cup 2024 gets underway at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. While India's wait for an ICC trophy continues with the Men in Blue having last won an ICC title back in 2013 (ICC Champions Trophy), India came near another ICC trophy win in 2023 but lost the finals.
The T20 World Cup 2024 presents the captain coach duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, a perfect chance for redemption for while Dravid has already said this would be his last assignment as India head coach, there may not be another World Cup in India jersey for Rohit either. That might well be the case for senior batter Virat Kohli. And now, India seem to have taken a bold call as they play their first match of T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland.

While India had been going with the opening combination of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal before heading into the tournament, after Kohli's Orange Cap-winning form in IPL 2024, it seems like it will be Rohit and Kohli who will be opening the batting for Team India in the T20 World Cup. The same was hinted at when India went in without Jaiswal in their Playing 11 for their T20 World Cup opener.
India, however, are bowling first in New York after winning the toss and it remains to be seen who walks out to open the batting for them.
