Rohit Sharma led India to their second T20 World Cup title as the Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 (Saturday) at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. It marked 17 years since India last won a T20 World Cup, which was back in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. This also ended India’s ICC trophy drought, as they won their first ICC trophy in 11 years, last time being the 2013 Champions Trophy.

- Most Matches Played: Rohit Sharma has played 159 matches, the most in Men's T20I cricket, surpassing Ireland's Paul Stirling (145) and George Dockrell (139). Among all players, only India's Women's T20I captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has more appearances (166).


- 111 Wins as a Player: Rohit holds the record for the most wins in T20Is, with 111 wins. The next closest is Shoaib Malik with 87.


- Leading Run-Scorer: Rohit retires as the leading run-scorer in Men's T20Is with 4231 runs, just ahead of Virat Kohli (4188), who also retired from the format. 


- Most Hundreds in T20Is: Rohit is tied with Glenn Maxwell for the most hundreds in T20Is (5), followed by Suryakumar Yadav (4). He has 37 fifty-plus scores, second only to Kohli and Babar Azam (39 each).


- Most Sixes in T20Is: Rohit has hit 205 sixes in T20Is, the most by any player, well ahead of Martin Guptill (173). 


- Record Partnerships: Rohit and Rinku Singh's 190-run partnership for the fifth wicket against Afghanistan in the IND vs AFG 3rd T20I in January, 2024 is the highest for the fourth wicket or lower. 


- 50 Victories as Captain: Rohit is the first captain to achieve 50 wins in T20Is, with an impressive win-loss ratio of 4.17 (50 wins and 12 defeats).


- Highest Win-Loss Ratio: Rohit's win-loss ratio across formats as India captain is 3.61, the highest among those who have led India in at least 12 internationals.


- Most Matches Played: Rohit holds the record for most matches played in Men's T20 World Cup (47), ahead of Shakib Al Hasan (43). 


- Oldest Captain to Lift T20 World Cup: At 37 years and 60 days, Rohit became the oldest captain to win a T20 World Cup, surpassing Aaron Finch.
