Senior batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are working hard on their fitness after being ruled out from the team due to injuries. Since the Asia Cup and World Cup are on the cards, fans will be hoping to see the duo back in the Indian team set-up. Recently Rahul and Shreyas were spotted batting at the  National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

India’s star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant who is also recuperating at the NCA after a lethal car crash, posted a video on his social media handles on Monday where both Iyer and Rahul were seen sweating it out. Rishabh Pant who posted a video had a deadly car accident in December 2022 and since then he is at the NCA to focus on his rehabilitation program. As far as his recovery is concerned, it does not look like the Delhi-based batter will play for India anytime soon. Ishan Kishan is expected to be with the Indian team as the second-choice wicket-keeper if Rahul gets fit for the Asia Cup.

The last time Kl Rahul played for India was back in March 2023 in an ODI series against Australia and then he got injured while playing for his IPL franchise side Lucknow Super Giants during the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league.  Shreyas Iyer on the other hand sustained an injury during  Australia’s tour to India. It was in the fourth Test at Ahmedabad when the Mumbai-based batter suffered a back injury. He then went for surgery in London to recuperate from the injury.

Since Suryakumar Yadav’s numbers in 50 over format are not that great and Sanju Samson also failed to deliver in the recently passed series against West Indies, India will hope for Iyer and Rahul to come back to the team as soon as possible. Rahul has a great average of 45 in 54 ODIs and has collected 1986 runs with five centuries and 13 fifties at a strike rate of 86.57. Iyer on the other hand took part in 42 ODIs and made 1690 runs at an average of 46.6 and a strike rate of 96.5 with the help of two centuries and 14 fifties to his name.
