India have been missing the services of their wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant since the past 6 months. The southpaw survived a near-fat car crash in December last year but sustained serious injuries due to which he has still not been able to take the ground. While he has started his rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, he still seems doubtful for the ODI World Cup which kicks off on October 5. And now Pant has grabbed headlines not for the quick recovery that he has been making but for his recent Instagram bio update.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) star added a second Date of Birth (D.O.B) to his bio. "Second D.O.B – 05/01/23," he wrote. It is pertinent to note that Pant had met the accident on December 31 but it his successful operation post the first aid happened on January 5 which is the date he has mentioned as his second date of birth.
Take a look at Pant's Updated Bio here:
Meanwhile, Pant has already missed several high-profile tournaments this year- the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final and is even set to miss the Asia Cup and the World Cup later this year. The 25-year-old was the designated the skipper of his IPL franchise DC but with him being ruled out, the team team had to appoint David Warner as the captain for the season. Warner-led DC did not have a season to remember and although they did improve in the second half of the competition they eventually finished 9th on the 10-team table with 10 points from 14 matches.
When Pant regains fitness before IPL 2024, he is likely to get back his place in the side as a captain and a wicketkeeper. The stumper was present at the venue for DC's first home match of the season against Gujarat Titans on April 4, 2023, which was his first public apperance after the car accident.
