India’s veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently played in the Test series against the West Indies where India outplayed the hosts, winning the first Test and tying the second to take the two-match series 1-0. Just after the Test series finished, the 36-year-old match winner played in  Division 1 of the TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association).


The Tamil Nadu-based player represented Mylapore Recreation Club A against Youngstars Cricket Club in a Division 1 match of the TNCA. The kind of commitment and discipline he possesses for the game are just commendable. Notably, the veteran spinner has been playing non-stop cricket since the start of 2023. He played for India in the  Border-Gavaskar Trophy, followed by the Indian Premier League and then the West Indies series too.


Speaking about Ashwin’s recent performances, the red ball specialist unleash fire during the series against West Indies where he took fifer in the first innings and followed it up by bowling a match-winning spell in the second innings. Senior Indian spinner bowled  21.3 overs in the second innings and picked up seven wickets to secure the win for the visitors.


Ashwin also grabbed three wickets across the two innings in the second Test. Recently as per the reports, Ravichandran Ashwin is in the line to make a comeback in the 50-over setup for India. He is likely to be included in India’s team for the upcoming 2023 World Cup.


The 36-year-old player was a part of MS Dhoni’s Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup. Ashwin has played in  113 One-Day matches for India where he scalped 151 wickets. He also played in the  2015 ODI World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy final.


According to the The Indian Express report, the veteran name is in contention since the Men in Blue has two left-arm spinners in the form of Axar and Jadeja, who have similar bowling strengths. Ashwin’s ability to bowl with the new ball is quite evident, he is likely to get a nod in the squad for World Cup.
