In what turned out to be a perfect farewell to an extraordinary cricketing career, former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir (112) scored a brilliant century in his last match in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 match between Delhi and Andhra at the Feroz Shah Kotla.


The world cup hero played a superb innings in response to 1st innings total of 390 by Andhra Pradesh and completed his century.


Gambhir faced 185 balls in which he ended his innings by scoring 112 runs with 10 fours. Apart from Gambhir, opener Hiten Dalal played a great knock of 58 runs.







 


On Friday, Gambhir remained unbeaten on 92 at close of play on day 2, carrying the burden of Delhi on his shoulders for one final time.


The two-time World Cup champion received a guard of honour from the Andhra players, when he was about to walk back to the dressing room at tea and another one at close of play which shows what a great cricketing legend he is.


Earlier on Tuesday, Gambhir announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to a career spanning almost 20 years. The 37-year-old Delhi batsman announced his decision in a video posted on his Twitter and Facebook pages.
