After the conclusion of the ODI World Cup at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, presented the coveted ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy to Australian skipper Pat Cummins.
Despite Team India falling short of clinching victory in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, Prime Minister Modi expressed unwavering support, stating that the nation stands by the team "today and always." He commended the ICC Men's cricket team for bringing immense pride to the nation throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Modi also congratulated the winning team Australia. He wrote: "Congratulations to Australia on a magnificent World Cup victory! Theirs was a commendable performance through the tournament, culminating in a splendid triumph. Compliments to Travis Head for his remarkable game today."
The clash saw Australia emerge triumphant, defeating hosts India by six wickets and securing their sixth ODI World Cup title in Ahmedabad. Travis Head's spectacular inning of 137 runs off 120 balls was studded with 15 fours and four sixes. While Marnus Labuschagne's unbeaten 58 was equally crucial.
India had won ten matches in a row and were the favourites leading upto this match but were outplayed by Australia on the day who had started their tournament by losing two matches in a row but then went on to win nine in a row including the final to further extend their dominance in World Cricket.
