As the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is nearing by, the Indian team management is looking forward to locking the final-15 who would travel to England for the mega event. While the squad is almost finalised, there are a few names on which the selectors will have their say after observing them in the home series against Australia.

Meanwhile, two-time World Cup winner and ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has stated that there will be no place for those players who are hoping to find a place on the flight to England through their performances in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Especially, Suresh Raina who will be playing for Chennai Super Kings on March 23.

“I don’t think there will be changes in the Indian team for the World Cup even if someone plays amazingly well in the IPL, be it Suresh Raina or any youngster,” said Harbhajan.

“I don’t think the 15-man squad will change unless there are injuries or so. BCCI is also looking at the squad in the manner of who to rest and how during the IPL, so the squad is more or less locked,” Harbhajan added.

Raina was a part of India’sWorld Cup squad in the 2011 and 2015 edition. He didn’t feature in all the matches in 2011 when India won the title. But in 2015, he got to play all the games and ended the competition with 284 runs under his belt in 7 matches including a century against Zimbabwe.

He last donned the blue Indian jersey during the recent tour of England in August 2018.
