The Indian cricket team is currently dealing with a lot of injury issues of their players. Star players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer are still recuperating from the injuries they sustained and as a result, they missed out on playing a lot of elite tournaments for the country.

In a recent report, star India batter KL Rahul will miss the Asia Cup as he is still going through a recovery process. He got injured during the recently concluded IPL 2023 and underwent surgery in London.  He is currently at the NCA and as per Cricbuzz, the Karnataka-based player might need some more time to regain full fitness.

It is expected that Sanju Samson will likely to get a chance in playing XI as the Indian team requires someone who can bat in the middle overs. Ever since Pant got injured, KL did a brilliant job by batting at number five but his injury has given an opportunity to Samson, who represented India in only 11 ODI matches, getting 330 runs in the process.

Ishan Kishan will be another option but the problem is that he is an opener so Samson has high chances. Jasprit Bumrah on the other hand is likely to take part Ireland series but a lot will depend on how well he recovers. As per the reports, he is 70% fit at the moment and the board does not want to push him. The Indian team is currently preparing for the series against West Indies as they will play two Tests, three One-Day-Internationals (ODIs), and a five-match T20 International series, starting from July 12.

The BCCI also declared the squad for the same on Friday where they have picked a few young guns on the basis of their IPL 2023 performances. The most surpassing factor of the selection was Cheteshwar Pujara’s elimination from the Test squad. Umesh Yadav was also dropped from the squad.
