Veteran cricketer Kapil Dev in a suggestion to the Indian team management has said that the management needs to find ways to include KL Rahul in the playing XI quite often. Dev believes that the right-handed batsman could be fitted in the middle-order if not in the top, as there is still time for the World Cup to come.
“I’d like Rahul to be playing and it would be good if he figures in the World Cup. There are still eight months between now and the tournament, so there’s time for the team management to work things out. If Rahul is not going to open, he can still find a place in the middle order. After all, with the advent of the T20 game, I wouldn’t say there are fixed positions for batsmen,” he told while speaking to The Telegraph.
Third opener Rahul had to warm the bench during the Asia Cup in the absence of Virat Kohli, as the in-form opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan ensured the Indian squad won the Asia Cup, beating Bangladesh in the heart-racing last over final.
However, the legendary Indian player and World Cup winning captain himself has come upfront in support of Rahul, backing him up to be the part of the Indian team in the World Cup.
