The Indian team chief selector Ajit Agarkar declared the 15-member squad to take part in the upcoming 2023 World Cup. Most of the players are the same as those of the Asia Cup squad with Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Prasidh Krishna did not manage to make the cut. During the press conference, skipper Rohit Sharma and Agarkar have answered a lot of questions regarding team selection and their preparations. Meanwhile, Rohit got angry at a reporter after he was asked about the public's perception during the India-Pakistan matches.
The Indian captain was visibly disappointed and went on to ask the reporter to stop asking such questions. The opening batter cleared that he would not answer such questions during press conferences held during the World Cup next month.
"Mereko World Cup Main Bhi Ye Sawal Mat Puchna Jab Ham Press Conference Karega Na India Main. Ye Mahool Ho Raha. Iska Jawab Nahi Dunga Main. (Do not ask me such questions in the world cup when we do press conferences in India. I will not answer them," said Rohit.
"It doesn't make sense to talk about such things. Our focus is something else and we do not care about these things," Rohit added.
Talking about the squad, senior spinner Chahal who was first ignored for Asia Cup 2023, has been excluded once again.
"Some of the guys will miss out, it's hard but it happens. I have been there myself, you just have to keep your chin up”, Rohit said.
It was predicted that BCCI would also name India's squad for the upcoming IND vs AUS three-match ODI series, slated to take place in India from September 22 to 27, but it looks like fans have to wait a little longer.
India's squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (Vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav
