As per reports, the Indian team suffered a big blow as their wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan got stung by a honeybee while taking part in a practice session at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. The medical staff paid a visit to check Ishan’s condition. Earlier, India’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav also got injured after getting hit on his right wrist during the net session.
The Men in Blue is already struggling with Hardik Pandya who also sustained an ankle injury during India’s game against Bangladesh. One of the officials of BCCI has also confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja is also struggling with a niggle. However, the injury is not that serious and he will be fully fit for IND vs NZ clash like Hardik Pandya.
“Jadeja is fine. When you have surgery, you need long-term care. Knee injuries are such that they tend to hurt back. That is why he was applying an ice pack. There is no immediate concern regarding his niggle. The medical team and the physios are keeping a tab on all the players including Jadeja,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja are expected to be rested for a few games to avoid any fatigue before the big semi-final.
“It’s up to the team management whether they want to rotate the squad. But with crucial matches coming up, Jadeja is very important player for us. Maybe, once the semifinal spot is sealed, there could be rotations to keep the players fresh for knockouts,” the official added.
The Indian team are set to lock horns with New Zealand in their upcoming fixture of the World Cup 2023 on Sunday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
