New Delhi: England all-rounder Ben Stokes fetched record price of 14.5 crores from Rising Pune Supergiants for IPL 10 in recently concluded IPL auction. The 25-year-old England international became the most expensive forgein player in IPL history.
Ben Stokes is in a splendid form and played an important role in the England team which toured India recently. Stokes has scored more than 1200 runs and clinched 32 wickets in T20 international.
Another England International Tymal Mills was grabbed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 12 crores. The left arm bowler showed his class during England’s tour of India
While Ben Stokes and Tymal mills have been rewarded for their current forms, there is list of players who went unsold in IPL auction despite having a good run in international and domestic cricket
Imran Tahir
ICC World No.1 bowler Imran Tahir failed to attract buyers. Tahir was in sensational form during Sri Lanka’s tour of South Africa. Tahir become the second fastest bowler to reach 5o wicket mark in T20 cricket. The 37-year-old had base price of Rs. 50 lakhs but remained unsold.
Jonny Bairstow
England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow was expected to land a contract after a good show in 2016. The England international had a hefty price tag of 1.5 crores and ignored by all IPL franchises.
Ross Taylor
Ross Taylor, on Wednesday broke New Zealand’s all time leading ODI century record but the Kiwi went unsold in IPL Auction. The 32-year-old has also failed to make it to the New Zealand T20 team from past one year.
Irfan Pathan
Irfan Pathan was one of the big names to go unsold on Monday. Pathan had a decent run in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but that form didn’t earn him a contract for IPL 2017.
Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma was the biggest loser of IPL auction 2017. The tall Indian bowler was the only Indian listed in the highest base price list with Rs. 2 crores.
