Mumbai Indians (MI) scripted history on Sunday night when they outclassed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by one run to with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. It was for the fourth time that Rohit Sharma & Co clinched the title. Not only the players but the owners and coaching staff were overwhelmed on the terrific victory.

Before leaving the venue, the entire MI Paltan gathered in the change room to listen to the final words from their head coach Mahela Jayawardene. The former Sri Lankan legend is known to be a man of few words. But on Sunday night, the way he cheered up his boys was pure gold.

“As for today, we never gave up. Yes, we made mistakes but we just keep coming back and that's important. That is the culture you need to create and throughout this season everyone has put their hand up,” Jayawardene said while lauding the efforts put by the team.

The Mumbai franchise took to their official social media handle and posted the video of the session where the head coach ended up saying, “We don't have a Purple Cap or an Orange Cap, but who cares… we got this (pointing at the IPL trophy).”

On Sunday night, Lasith Malinga produced an incredible last over to defend nine runs as Mumbai claimed undisputed supremacy in the IPL with a narrow one-run win over Chennai in a pulsating final.

CSK needed nine runs off the last over but the experienced Lankan paceman Malinga kept his nerve to concede eight. He trapped Shardul Thakur leg before in the last ball after Watson (80 off 59) got run out two balls earlier.
