During a meeting on Monday, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) along with office bearers have decided April 15 as the date when India's 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup will be selected in Mumbai.

The last date for announcing the World Cup squads is April 23 but BCCI has decided to announce it eight days prior to the scheduled day.

Earlier, Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad had revealed 20th of April as the date when BCCI would officially announce India’s 15-member squad for World Cup 2019, adding he is confident that the Indian cricket team will make the nation proud in England and Wales this summer.

"I had a good ‘darshan’ of the God along with my family. So far as Indian cricket team is concerned, we will be announcing our team for the World Cup on or before April 20," Prasad was quoted saying by ANI.

Virat Kohli and his men will start their campaign with a match against South Africa on June 5. The 12th edition of the mega event is scheduled to begin on May 30.

The BCCI has also decided that a call on whether Chennai will get to host the final of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League will be taken after discussing the issue with the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).

The closure of the three stands at the Chepauk Stadium is the cause for concern as otherwise, the rule of the tournament says that the defending champion gets to host the opening game as well the final.
