The United States of America (USA) announced a 14-man squad for their first-ever bilateral T20I series against the United Aram Emirates (UAE), beginning March 15. The series is comprised of two T20Is which will be played at the ICC Academy Oval followed by the second encounter at the same venue on March 16.
Indian-origin left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar has been named as the captain of the USA. Medium pacer Jasdeep Singh and batsman Xavier Marshall have returned back into the side after missing out the Division 3 games in Oman. The upcoming tour will be seen as a preparation for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Division 2 tournament in Namibia later in April.
“We see the UAE tour as being the perfect preparation for ICC World Cricket League 2 and the make-up of this squad has been picked squarely with the focus on the ultimate goal of [ODI] status and progression from World Cricket League Division 2 in Namibia,” Ricardo Powell, the Chairman of selectors, said.
A number of 50-over series is also on the cards but the schedule is yet to be announced.
