Making a terrific comeback in the 5-match Youth ODI series, the Indian colts registered a terrific 135-run victory against Sri Lankan on Tuesday at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium in Moratuwa. After a collective batting effort by the visitors, six wickets were shared by spinners Ayush Badoni and Harsh Tyagi to level the series 2-2.
With the decision to bat first, the Indian batsmen put a decent total of 278 runs for six on board with Devdutt Padikkal (71), skipper Aryan Juyal (60) and Yash Rathod (56) scoring half-centuries.
Following an early dismissal of Atharwa Taide (20), a partnership of 74 runs was built for the second wicket by Padikkal and Pawan Shah (36) before Sandun Mendis broke the stand by scalping the latter.
The following batsmen used the platform to post the highest score of the series. India then bowled out the Sri Lankan team for 143 in 37.2 overs with some outstanding display bowling by off-spinner Badoni and harsh Tyagi, claiming 3 wickets each.
Opener Navod Paranavithana top-scored for the hosts with his 45-run knock while captain Nipun Dananjaya Perera contributed 36.
The decisive fifth ODI will be played on Thursday at the same venue.
