Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan is utilizing every second to sharpen his cricketing skills as he still waits for his maiden India call-up. The right-hander, who was ignored by the selectors for India's Test squad for Windies tour, took to Instagram to share a story on Sunday. Debate over Sarfaraz Khan's exclusion from India's Test team for Windies tour is currently a hot-topic in the cricketing fraternity, with fans and former players calling for his selection in Tests due to his consistent form in the format. Several veterans including Sunil Gavaskar and Aakash Chopra called for Sarfaraz Khan's inclusion in India's test team. Meanwhile, an ex-BCCI official has revealed that Sarfaraz is not being considered for selection in the Indian team due to poor fitness and bad behavior both off and on the field.

"Hence Sarfaraz Khan getting completely exposed against quick bowlers in IPL or Abhimanyu Easwaran not scoring for Bengal in seven consecutive Ranji knock-out games (three quarter-finals, two semi-finals and two finals) also is taken into account. It is not just about how many runs you score but also how you score them that matters," a former selector told Hindustan Times.

Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has scored 2566 runs in the last three Ranji seasons. He scored 928 runs in the 2019/20 season, 982 runs in 2022-23 and 656 runs in 2022-23 season. The 25-year-old has a career average of 79.65 after 37 first-class matches which makes fans and cricket pundits question selectors over their decision to choose Rituraj Gaikwad over Sarfaraz in Test team for WIndies tour. Rituraj averages 42 in the first class. Apart from being in superb form in the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz has also played two Under-19 World Cups for India.
