Team India's star wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan notched up a quickfire 64-ball 77 runs while putting up a record-shattering 142-run partnership with Shubman Gill for opening wicket in series decider (IND vs WI 3rd ODI) on Tuesday. Making most of the opportunity he got due to injured Rishab Pant's absence, Ishan Kishan, in all likelihood, has sealed his spot as backup wicketkeeper and opener in India's Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 squads by scoring back-to-back three half-centuries in recently concluded India vs West Indies ODI series 2023, which Hardik Pandya-led visitors won 2-0.

Kishan, who won 'Player of the Series' award for his performance in IND vs WI ODI series 2023, revealed an unexpected gesture of Windies batting legend Brian Lara, which left him shocked. After the third ODI got over, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill had a conversation with Lara. It was during the conversation when Ishan revealed that the former West Indies skipper once messaged him on Instagram.

"I think for me, the most important things are the stories I've heard. I have heard that you always used to bat till lunch and if you are there on the pitch, you go to practice and then again come to bat. So that is something to learn from you," Ishan told Lara in a video posted by BCCI.TV

"And I was very excited to... you know, once you texted me on Instagram and I was actually in shock, like how come you texted me. Such a legend of this game texted me and I was very happy about it,' he added.

"Performing here where your name is there on the board was really special for me. And, you know, I love to watch highlights and I've seen your innings, how you used to play and hit those shots. So I'm actually happy to perform here," Kishan added.
