Head coach Ravi Shastri has reportedly requested the BCCI to strengthen the support staff by appointing a spin bowling coach for India’s upcoming tour to Australia.

The Indian support staff currently comprising of assistant and batting coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar apart from head coach Shastri will get a new member in the form a spin bowling coach before the Australia tour, according to reports in the Mumbai Mirror.

Shastri is believed to have requested the board for a spin bowling coach during the review meeting with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to asses India’s 1-4 series loss in England. The meeting took place before the Indian team left for Asia Cup in UAE.

While the main agenda of the meet was to question Shastri about India’s performance in England, Shastri reportedly brought up the matter of the need to bolster the support staff.

However, it is still unclear whether the CoA agreed to Shastris’demands or not but the possibility of an addition to the support staff cannot be ruled out.

Shastri had defended India’s performance by stating that the final result did not give out the whole picture of the series. India competed in all the matches and also ended up winning the T20I series.
