Indian opener Rohit Sharma who has been on a record breaking spree in both ODI and T20 cricket is in striking distance of attaining yet another feat in his stellar ODI career. Rohit who has amassed in his career needs just 26 runs to surpass Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh on the list of Indian batsmen with most runs in ODI cricket.
If Rohit scores 26 runs in India's third one day international against the West Indies at Trinidad later in the evening, he will become the 7th highest Indian run-getter in ODIs behind Sachin Tendulkar (18426), Virat Kohli (11406), Sourav Ganguly (11363), Rahul Dravid (10889), MS Dhoni (10773) and Mohammad Azharuddin (9378).
Rohit Sharma was in the form of life in the recently concluded ICC World Cup, where he ended up as tournament's leading run scorer and struck a record breaking five centuries. He carried on his good form in the T20 series against the West Indies, notching up 91 runs in two innings for India.
Apart from Rohit Sharma, the likes of Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav are also verge on breaking a few records. Virat Kohli requires 26 runs to overtake Sarwan in most runs during India and West Indies matches while the Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav is just 4 wickets away from becoming the quickest to 100 wickets.
India are 1-0 up in the 3-match ODI series after inflicting a 59 run win over the Windies in the 2nd ODI at Trinidad. The series opener at Guyana had got washed out due to persistent rain.
