India's ace leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who has made a stellar comeback into the T20 unit is on verge of setting a new record when he features against the West Indies in the second T2OI of the 3-match series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Chahal, who drew level with Ravichandran Ashwin as India's top wicket taker courtesy his 2 wickets in the series opener at Hyderabad, will look to go past Ashwin and bag the top spot in India's leading wicket takers list in T20Is.
Chahal needs to take just a wicket against the Windies in the Thiruvananthapuram T2OI to become India's highest wicket taker in T20 internationals. It is notable that Chahal equalled Ashwin's record of 52 wickets in just 35 matches, as the latter achieved the tally in 46 games.
The leggie would look to add to his wicket tally when he comes onto bowl for India in the second T20I later on Sunday evening. In Hyderabad, Chahal played his part in India's win as he scalped the crucial wickets of the well settled Shimron Hetmyer and Kieron Pollard to help the hosts curtail the brutal onslaught by the Windies power hitters. Chahal returned with figures of 2-36 in his four overs spell, a decent performance considering all the bowlers were tonked to all parts of the ground in a batting display by both the teams.
For the record, Chahal has picked up four wickets in his two encounters with Windies in T20 internationals. Jasprit Bumrah is India's highest wicket taker in T20 internationals against the Windies.
Top 5 wicket-takers for India In T20I

Hosts India have taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series after edging Windies in the high scoring thrilling encounter at Hyderabad. Skipper Virat Kohli and opener KL Rahul struck belligerent half tons to help the hosts chase down a mammoth 208-run target at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium at Hyderabad.
While the Indians would be eyeing a win to wrap up the series, the Windies would have to go all guns blazing to avoid yet another loss at the hands of the 'Men in Blue'.
Team India is currently on a seven match winning streak against the Windies in T2O internationals, one of their best ever against any opponent in the shortest format of the game.
