It will be a crucial couple of weeks for Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey, who are back in the mix after being sidelined from India's 50-over World Cup plans.
From this tour onwards, Rishabh Pant will have more responsibility on his shoulders with the selectors backing him as the number one wicketkeeper in all formats.
India will be expected to beat the West Indies though they are most dangerous in the shortest format.
Toss Update:
Indian skipper Virat Kohli has won the toss and decided to field first. Chahar Brothers aren't included in the playing XI. At the same time, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have also been benched for the game.
"We will bowl first. This wicket has been under covers so there might be a bit of moisture. It is always good to get on the park. We are pretty fine now. Chahar brothers are not playing," said Kohli at the toss.
West Indies will miss the services of Andre Russell in the first two T20Is as he experienced some discomfort while playing in the GT20 tournament in Canada and informed the interim selection panel of his unavailability for the upcoming series.
Jason Mohammed has been named his replacement but he hasn't been included in the Playing XI.
"We would have bowled first too because of the same reasons. We are building, looking forward to the T20 World Cup. Hopefully, we will peak in the World Cup," said Windies skipper Carlos Brathwaite.
