Riding high on confidence after clean sweeping the T20I series, Team India will look to take the form into the 50-over format. The men in blue are set to lock horns with the West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Providence Stadium on Thursday.
Bad weather in Guyana not only delayed the game by almost 2 hours but also forced the match officials to reduce the number of overs. This game is going to be a 43-over aside affair.
Toss Update:
Indian skipper Virat Kohli has won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shreyas Iyer and Kedar Jadhav are back in the middle-order along with Kuldeep and Shami.
“The top surface looks damp, weather around, shortened game. The team batting second will have an advantage. We have left out Chahal, Saini, KL Rahul and Manish Pandey. We are looking at the new guys, giving them time and let them settle,” said Kohli at the toss.
The West Indies gets Chris Gayle back in the line-up who will open the innings along with Evin Lewis.
“This is an opportunity for our batsmen to get some runs, fresh series, a fresh start. Need to execute our batting and bowling plans, we have spoken a lot about the team's future, need some batting partnerships and give ourselves some chance. We have left out Keemo Paul, Oshane Thomas and John Campbell,” said Jason Holder at the toss.
