Two World Cup 2024 winners, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, fresh after announcing their retirement from the shortest format, will return to white-ball action when Team India takes on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series, starting from August 2nd onwards.
India's tour to Sri Lanka, comprising three T20Is and as many ODIs, will be newly-appointed coach Gautam Gambhir's first assignment with the national team. Reports suggest that Gambhir wanted both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to be part of IND vs SL ODI series as Team India will play just six ODI matches before the 2025 Champions Trophy. After the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, India will play another ODI series against England.
