Kolkata: India are taking on Sri Lanka in the second One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on January 12, 2023. Having won the series opener in Guwahati, India are in with a chance in this match to clinch the series with one match to go.

It was the visitors though who won the toss and elected to bat first on Thursday. While at one point, the 1996 World Champions of this format looked set to post a big total, having crossed the 100-run mark with the loss of just 1 wicket and Nuwanidu Fernando and wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis in the middle of a brilliant partnership, eventually the Men from the Island nation were bowled out for 215.

Indian bowlers made an impressive comeback led by Kuldeep Yadav who was given a game instead of Yuzvendra Chahal. Kuldeep picked up the wickets of Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka to break the spine of the opposition middle order. He eventually finished with figures of 3/51.

Mohammed Siraj also returned with figures of 3/30 while Umran Malik and Axar Patel were also among the wicket-takers. India all-rounder Hardik Pandya went wicketless, giving away 26 runs in his 5 overs in his match. However, he was caught 'asking water' on stump mic. The Gujarat Titans captain didn't look too pleased in the clip which has gone viral.
